A world of skiing is becoming more interesting as new ski frontiers open up, offering snow sport fans the opportunity to ski in more exotic places than ever. Japan, Chile, Lebanon, Slovakia, Bulgaria and many other countries not renowned for their mountains are attracting British skiers looking for something unusual ski experience.
But despite the availability of these new destinationsski market is becoming a larger part of France remains the most popular place to ski for the English, and it is not difficult to see why.
France has probably the best skiing in Europe, many of the major resorts of the Alps, the Pyrenees, not to mention the lesser known series. It also has one of the best cuisines in the world, and because of the highest mountains of Europe (with resorts like Val Thorens), you can pretty sure that youactually real snow for skiing, even in this age of global warming that threatens the survival of ski resorts located at lower altitudes. And on top of all this. France, close to the United Kingdom and the many cheap flights now available means that skiers can be on the slopes in a few hours
Places like Holiday Brides Les Bains, Tignes Val Claret, Morzine, La Clusaz, Chamonix, Les Arcs Thollon and now all major airports and airlines are increasingoffers low fares for flights to Lyon and Geneva, getting the resort quickly and easily and not break the bank.
France also offers skiing in the lesser known areas of the Massif Central and the Pyrenees mountains, which are completely separate from the Alps Although not famous or fashionable as the better known French resorts offer these alternatives less-expensive and often most quiet to favorites old.
Thus, although some ski and snowboardadventurers see the snow away, its proximity to France, the UK, the ready availability and low cost of the trip is likely to keep it in place as number one ski playground favorite Brit.
